Tow fuse. Anyway'shere it is. This is where it gets a little complicated From the junction block. Let me know where you want to start on your venture trying to figure this out. I have dug up a lot of Diagrams but too much to post all at the same time.November 18th, I've read several threads on alternator upgrades but was somewhat confused with what I found. I've read a few threads some from other forums that suggest wiring upgrades are mandatory and that you can't "plug and play" the more powerful alternator without frying something.
Is this true? My only upgrades right now are gold plated terminals and an optima yellow top. Any advice would be helpful, I run a lot of lights and power accessories so its time for a bigger alt. As best as I can tell, all of the Chrysler products that use the Denso alternator changed to the new plug style in I had problems w my amp 'rango alt plugging up wires because I'm an idiot and didn't confirm I was shipped the correct part.
Mine is a also when I did mine it was a one piece bracket I ground it to fit the alt then bolted it onto the block and ground the little bit that stuck out past the clearanced part of the bracket. Broke in half! There was another steel not aluminum like the bracket bracket that braces the front of the alt bracket that mine never had. If you don't have that bracket on yours I'd get one it makes it way sturdier and having your alt fall out on the highway is no fun.
I also did wiring mains to 2ga. And headlight loom upgrade w e-code h4 housings at the same time and am very very happy with it. And is very knowledgable in this area. Okay thanks for the advice!
My alt has been making some funny noises and I just wanted to know if for now I could swap in the or amp without any wiring issues. I plan on upgrading the wiring down the road I've already done the H4 harness and love itbut for right now I'm just going to swap the alt.
I'm assuming that the 4. Also, any differences in the pulley? I've read a few threads about people changing the pulley but from all the ones I have seen they look identical. Typical Jeep Stock Radio Problem Repair Options
I'll definitely contact I know upgrading the wiring will help and is a good idea, but I guess my main concern is will I hurt anything by just installing the or amp without touching the wiring and leaving it stock? The Jeep Grand Cherokee was redesigned for the model year; the models have minimal changes.
This model is also known as Jeep WJ. Daniel alfa Has anyone discovered a repair option? I had it in my mind that a similar repair to the Playstation 3's yellow ring of death fix, which involves removing the motherboard and heating the circuits until the micro soldering reattaches, might work for the circuitry in these radios.
Any ideas? I have another one that has failed previously, so I may test on that one to see if I can find a solution. Often times with that generation of electronics and the abuse that vehicles get, it's the capacitors that fail. Rip one apart and see if the oil has visibly leaked out of any of them. There'll be visible staining on the circuit board underneath them if they failed. Replacing the big power caps could very well bring them back to life. I figured there may be some issues with the capacitors or the circuit solder joints.
I'm going to tear one apart and see what I can come up with. My basic reasoning for this repair is to avoid losing the CD changer. I'd like to just pop in my CD's and drive, versus dealing with an aftermarket deck, USB thingy's, and cell phones.
I have the same problem on my 04 Grand Cherokee which I just purchased.
Being a component level electronic repair technician, and noting that my screen comes on every now and then, I do not suspect capacitors but suspect a bad solder joint that is heating up and opening completely because of the damage to the circuit board. And FYI, not all bad capacitors leak. Some will just bulge on the top. My experience is that a very large number of my repairs, especially on power supplies, is poor quality solder joints.
Daryl Metzler djmetzle. I think if you pop one open you might be surprised at how easy to repair that generation of circuit boards are. Especially vehicle pcbs as they have to be "rugged". The power caps and ICs are the likely culprits.Car speakers tend to wear out, and even break, over time.
This is especially true with the kind of lower quality original equipment OE speakers that most cars and trucks come equipped with.
Internal components can wear out or come loose through regular use, and there's not a lot that can be done about it.
That being said, car speakers tend to fail one at a time. Every speaker in a car audio system dying at once is very unlikely without some serious abuse, like cranking the volume high enough to blow the speakers out. In order to narrow down the exact cause of this type of car audio problem, some basic troubleshooting is in order.
Check the volume, fade and pan settings. Test different audio inputs i. Check for loose or unplugged wires. If you are unable to locate any issues with the head unit, then you will want to determine whether or not you have an external amplifier. In-car audio systems that use external amps both OEM and aftermarketthe amp is the most common cause of this type of problem, since the audio has to pass through it on the way to the speakers. In the process of checking out the amp, you will want to:.
Why Did My Car Speakers Stop Working?
Verify that the amplifier is actually turning on. Inspect for loose or disconnected input or output speaker wires. Test both inline and onboard fuses. Although there are many common car amplifier problems that you can identify and fix on your own, you may run into a situation where the amp seems fine even though it has failed.
When you checked the fade and pan settings on your head unit, you may have discovered that they were set to a speaker or speakers that had failed and that you were able to get sound by moving to a speaker or speakers that work.
Since speaker wires are often routed behind panels and molding, under seats, and beneath the carpet, it can be difficult to visibly inspect them. Depending on your situation, it may be easier to check for continuity between one end of each wire at the head unit or amp and the other end at each speaker. If your speakers are mounted in doors, then a common point of failure is where the speaker wire passes between the door and the door frame.
Although door wiring harnesses are typically protected by hard rubber sheathes, the wires can still end up breaking over time due to the repeated stresses endured in opening and closing the doors. With that in mind, you may also want to check for continuity and shorts with the doors both open and closes. If you find that one speaker is shorted to ground in that manner, that can actually cause all of the speakers to cut out. Another way to test the speakers, and to rule out bad wiring at the same time, is to obtain some speaker wire and to simply run new, temporary wires to each speaker.
If you end up ruling everything else out, and you really are dealing with a coincidental failure, then it's time to just replace your car speakers en masse.Easiest, cheapest way to install subwoofer to stock head unit.
However, you should probably make sure that they weren't blown out by someone cranking up the stereo. It's pretty easy to tell when car speakers blow out if you're there when it happens because you'll immediately notice that they stop working or no longer sound normal. If it happens when you're not around, and the guilty party isn't willing to fess up, verifying blown speakers takes a little work.
The surest way to test whether car speakers are blown out is to disconnect the speaker and check for continuity. If there isn't any continuity between the speaker terminals, that usually means it's blown. Tweet Share Email. More from Lifewire.Chrysler - Jeep, Renault. Chrysler - PUA. If you're gluten-free these top tips from Coeliac UK will help make the everyday a little easier. Coeliac disease is a lifelong, serious autoimmune disease caused by the immune system reacting to gluten - a protein found in wheat, barley and rye.
The only treatment for the condition is a strict gluten-free diet for life. Here are Coeliac UK's top 10 tips for everyday eating. All packaged food in the UK and the EU is covered by a law on allergen labelling, meaning you can tell whether or not a product is suitable for a gluten-free diet by reading the ingredients list.
If a cereal containing gluten has been used as an ingredient in the product, it must be listed in the ingredients list (no matter how little is used). Often, these ingredients will be highlighted in bold. Instead, switch to gluten-free alternatives of your favourite foods, which you will find in most supermarkets and health food stores. Gluten-free substitute foods include pasta, bread, crackers, bread rolls, cereals and more. Those medically diagnosed with coeliac disease can receive some gluten-free staple food on prescription from the NHS.
Fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, poultry, fish, cheese and eggs are naturally gluten-free, so use these as the basis to your meals. Quinoa, teff, amaranth, polenta, buckwheat, corn, millet and tapioca are just some of the naturally gluten-free grains which can be included in the diet.
Just check the labels to make sure you are using uncontaminated versions. Try swapping traditional breadcrumbs for polenta crumbs, opt for gluten-free buckwheat or rice noodles and pasta and try baking with quinoa for gluten-free alternatives.
Gluten-free alcohol includes cider, wine, sherry, spirits, port and liqueurs, but remember that beer, lagers, stouts and ales contain varying amounts of gluten and are not suitable for a gluten-free diet. Gluten-free beers are available in some supermarkets and restaurants, but make sure you only drink those that are labelled in this way. Even a tiny bit of gluten can be enough to cause symptoms for someone with coeliac disease, so make sure you minimise the risk of cross contamination with gluten-containing foods.
Do this by washing down kitchen surfaces before use, using separate butters, spreads and jams to minimise the spread of crumbs and invest in some toaster bags to keep your gluten-free bread separate. Instead, try making your own pasta sauces and gravies using cornflour, arrowroot or potato starch to thicken them for a gluten-free option. Finding the right gluten-free substitute for your usual gluten-containing ingredients is a matter of personal taste, so spend time in the kitchen getting used to gluten-free flours and baking aids.
Once diagnosed with coeliac disease, you can start to make positive changes to your diet to improve your health. Join Coeliac UK for support to help you adjust, which includes a Food and Drink Directory listing products to help you get started in the kitchen.
